What a one-page plan looks like
Before any work starts you get a single page. Here is what is on it, and why it is only one page.
A plan that runs to thirty pages is a plan nobody reads. Ours fits on one.
What is on the page
- The situation, in two or three sentences, in your words.
- What we will build, as a short list of things you will be able to do when it is finished.
- What is not included, so there are no surprises later.
- The timeline, with the date you first see something working.
- The price, fixed for that scope.
Why only one page
If the scope does not fit on a page, the project is too big to start safely. We cut it into a first piece that does fit, build that, and plan the next piece with everything we learned.
When things change
They always do. When the scope changes, the page changes first, and you approve it before any extra work begins.
